Attempted self portrait

A way to go as yet, but there are some parts of it I like. Looking at it with my wife later on she made a couple of interesting observations (other than I don’t seem to like my own face):

  1. It is likely that I am moving my head as I am drawing each side; and
  2. For whatever reason I’ve made my forehead too light. Although there was a light from above, this is likely to be more than the actual tonal difference.

In a future attempt I should do some quick tonal and position sketches before starting the main piece. I can then use these to stop “drift”. It may also be worth taking a position-reference selfie to help detect the head movement.
